The degree is titled BSc. Human Physiology. The duration is minimum of four and maximum of six years for U.M.E candidates, and minimum of three and maximum of five years for D.E. candidates. The BSc. Human Physiology degree is a classified and gradable degree based on course system and grade point average. Thus a course credit system from level one to level four, where the courses are arranged in progressive order, broken down into examinable course units for which students earn credits if passed.

The arrangement and progressive order of the courses are in the manner of levels of academic progress from level 100 to 400. This is done taking into account most of the courses are pre-requisites, or co-requisite with others, both intradepartmental and interdepartmental.

Other sets of students the Department engages include MBBS and BDS (Dentistry) on one hand, and students of Physiotherapy and other Allied Health Sciences (Nursing, Medical Laboratory Science, Radiography and Optometry) from the other hand. While the former remains for two (2) years receiving lectures in Human Physiology in what has been known as pre-clinical, the later also receives lectures for two (2) years before moving into their respective Departments in Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, Kano.
